'KEEPIN IT COWBOY'
Welcome everyone to the 30th Annual Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering and Western Music Rendezvous a signature event every August in Lewistown, Montana. We’re glad you’re here! Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering is the 2nd oldest cowboy poetry gathering in the country, just one year behind the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada! The mission of Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering is: “…to preserve and celebrate the history, heritage and values of the American cowboy in the upper Rocky Mountain west.”
This year, the Gathering is proud to announce its headlining performer, Red Steagall, whose music, poetry and homespun wit has charmed audiences from the Arbuckle Mountains to the White House lawn. Red has always been a cowboy, at least in his heart and mind. While growing up in the ranching country of the Texas Panhandle, he learned the skill and cow savvy of the men who worked the range. Since that time in his life, his songs have always been about cowboys. Some of his cowboy friends believe that Red's best songs and poems have never been heard by the general public. And if you ask Red where his favorite place to perform might be, he'll more than likely tell you it's around the chuckwagon at some lonesome cow camp. Don't miss this legendary act in August 2015, when he performs live on stage in Lewistown, Montana. For more on Red Steagall, visit RedSteagall.com
Special guest star Dave Stamey will be joining Red at our 30th anniversary performance. A nationally acclaimed cowboy entertainer, Dave has been referred to as "The Charlie Russell of Western Music". He has been voted six times Entertainer of the Year, six times Male Performer of the Year and five times Songwriter of the Year by the Western Music Association, and has received the Will Rogers Award from the Academy of Western Artists. A true cowboy and one of the most popular Western entertainers working today, you'll enjoy his western charm and sense of humor in this one-of-a-kind performance. Tickets for these two phenomenal entertainers will go on sale Friday, November 28, 2014. We look forward to seeing you in Lewistown, and thank you for joining all of us for this joyous time of listening, humming along, honoring those who came before us and taking inspiration from them into our daily lives! We hope you enjoy every minute of your “Keepin’ It Cowboy,” Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering experience.
